Hysteria 2 monitoring

QUIC-based high-speed VPN, URI auto-detect — actively verified from ExitProbe's distributed edge probes.

About Hysteria 2

Hysteria 2 is a QUIC-based proxy focused on performance on lossy, high-latency links. Its aggressive congestion control makes it popular for satellite, mobile and long-distance routes.

Because it runs over UDP with its own handshake, Hysteria nodes can be dropped by middleboxes in some regions while staying perfectly reachable from others — regional probe coverage matters more here than for any other protocol.

How ExitProbe tests it

  • 1ExitProbe parses hysteria2:// / hy2:// URIs including auth, SNI and obfuscation parameters.
  • 2Completes a genuine QUIC handshake from an edge probe with your auth string.
  • 3Verifies the exit IP through established tunnel traffic.
  • 4Per-region latency history exposes ISPs or regions that throttle UDP.

Your credentials are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and only decrypted in memory at check time on the probe running the test. They never appear in logs, API responses, or incident payloads.

Common questions

Is obfs (salamander) supported?

Yes — obfs and obfs-password query parameters are read from the URI and applied during the check.

Why does my Hysteria node pass from some regions and fail from others?

UDP handling differs per network. Assign multiple probes to the monitor and the per-region breakdown will show exactly which paths are throttling you.

Do you measure throughput?

Throughput testing is available for WireGuard and OpenVPN today; QUIC-based protocols are planned.
